MORE OF THE SAME

The game against visiting Stansted was almost a carbon copy of the game played two days earlier as Borough had the game won by half time and then wasted numerous chances to improve their goal difference in the second half.    Borough's fifth and final goal a few minutes from the interval was their 100th League goal of the season.  Darrell Cox and Dean Fenton took it in turns to score in the 9th, 18th, 23rd,  25th and 39th minutes.   The win means that the title will be decided on Saturday with Great Wakering Rovers only needing to win at Basildon United to clinch the title which would otherwise go to Borough if they beat Takeley, unless Enfield (1893) also won and by a cricket score

SATISFACTORY FIRST HALF SECURES 18th GAME UNBEATEN

It was as well that Borough were 3 up by the interval against visiting Tower Hamlets as Borough's performance after the interval fell away badly with some incredible wasting of chances when it seemed easier to score.   Credit to the vistors for raising their game to create a more even second half although they never posed any serious threat to Borough's lead

ANOTHER POINT AGAINST THE ODDS

For the second week running Borough Women played throughout with only ten players and battled back to secure a precious point which with four game still to play may yet enable them to escape what blooked like certain relegation for so long.   Against a strong wind at Leighton United they went two down before Stephanie Cooper put them back in the game and although a third goal was conceded very early in the second half Borough made good use of their wind advantage and stormed back to equalise with fine finishes by Joselina Ferreira and Daria Kaminska.

SWEET SEVENTEEN UNBEATEN  -  THREE TO GO

Borough cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win against Eton Manor at Capershotts with their firepower up front being too much for the home defence.   Some glorious chances went begging but two a-piece from Anthony McDonald and Dean Fenton kept Borough in second place.   Three home games in the space of the next seven days will guarantee Borough second place if all are won, barring an astonishing turn round in goal difference;  first place would depend on Great Wakering Rovers not winning their final game at basildon United next Saturday.

UNBEATEN RUN NOW SIXTEEN

A tough second v third local derby with near neighbours Enfield (1893) ended in Boroughs favour with a goal in the closing stages of each half.  The first was an own goal created by an Anthony McDonald free kick and the second a close range tap in set up by Daniel Aristidou for Dean Fenton.     The result sets up Great Wakering Rovers as certain Champions if they win their last two games.    If Borough won their last four and Enfield won their last five the runners up spot would then be decided on goal difference - probably in Borough's favour.  Borough are now 16 games unbeaten and 15 of them won with the last 11 all being victories.

BOROUGH WOMEN END LOSING RUN

After a run of 4 successive defeats Borough deserved more than the draw they secured against mid-table visitors Leighton United and but for a "player of the match" goalkeeping  performance, the framework and some rather wayward finishing of their own they would have got all three points.    This despite playing with only 10 throughout and starting with 9 for the first quarter of an hour until the goalkeeper arrived.   A goal down at the interval they fought back in determined fashion  and were rewarded with their equaliser mid way through the second half  when Paulina Saviciute finally squeezed the ball just inside the foot of the 'keepers left hand post in a scramble created by a corner.  After that Borough always looked the more likely winners but the ball just would not run kindly for them at crucial moments.

WEARY BOROUGH STAGE SECOND HALF COMEBACK

Borough's 3 games a week schedule has inevitably led to tiredness and excessive injury.  Several players were carrying injuries even before the kick off and Darrell Cox and Ashley Fasha had to be withdrawn before half time with  Fashan needing a hospital visit.  Clapton secured the lead just before the interval but Borough summoned up the energy for a better second half performance and took the points courtesy of two identival goals - both bullet headers at the far post from crosses before Ellis Remy joined the "unable to continue" contigent.     With the top four teams in the League all winning there is no change at the top making the Tuesday evening visit of Enfield (1893) even more crucial.

EASY WIN LIFTS BOROUGH TO SECOND PLACE

Borough extended their unbeaten run to 14 with a convincing win in which visitors Basildon United never threatened after Walid Matata put Borugh ahead with two goals in the first 20 minutes.   He went on to complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot early in the second half.  Rakim Richards,  Richard Worrell and Anthony McDonald contributed the others in the 6-0 win.    The victory moved Borough from 4th to 2nd place being one of 3 teams with 73 points but with far and away the best goal difference.
