TEAM APPOINTMENTS FOR 2010/11

MARK TWEED who coached and managed the team for the last 5 games of the season will be the TEAM MANAGER/COACH for 2010/11.   Mark is a level 3 referee as well as holding Coaching qualifications so we will be hoping for an improvement in our not always perfect disciplinary record !

KARLA PARKER will be the TEAM ADMINISTRATOR - a new title which recognises the role which she has in effect filled very diligently for some considerable time

Preparations for next season start on 13th July and details can be obtained by clicking on the "Trials and Training" item in the Menu and then selecting the Womens Team option.

DISAPPOINTING END TO SEASON

- BUT SOME WELL DESREVED AWARDS

After a fine first half of the season which had seen Borough looking highly likely to achieve promotion as well as putting together fine Cup runs a lack of committment and personality problems set in and cost the Club dear with mid-table  6th place being the outcome

Following the final match of the season on 30th May, a 4-1 home win over Cambridge University, the Annual Presentation of Awards took place in the Club House.

Top Scorer was                                AISHAH BOLAJI (21)

Most Improved Player                      ZOE BRITTON

Players Player of the Season             JOSELINA FERREIRA

There having been 3 Managers at various times in the season the usual award of a “Managers Player of the Season” was impractical but a special vote of thanks was recorded in favour of KARLA PARKER without whose perseverance in the aggravating task of administering the team in  a very dark period for the squad towards the end of the season the team might not have survived.

BOROUGH REACH LEAGUE CUP QUARTER FINAL

A much changed side returned from Cambridge University's superb "Fenners" facility on 22nd November having come back from being 2 down to book their place in the Quarter Finals with a 3-2 win.   The draw has not yet been made.   Full report on "FIXTURES & RESULTS" page

BOROUGH MOVE TO 2nd IN TABLE

A hard fought win at Peterborough on 15th November lifts Borough into 2nd place in the Premier Division table.  Only defeated Peterborough are now above by 3 points but we have 5 games in hand on them.    See "Fixtures & Results"  page for full details

BOROUGH IN 2nd ROUND PROPER OF THE WFA CUP

BOROUGH WOMEN won the fourth match of their WFA Cup campaign and put themselves into the 2nd Round Proper draw with a fine 3-1 win over visitors Barking from the same League and Division.        An even game throughout was effectively swung in Borough's favour by an outstanding demonstration of speed, persistence, ball control and clinical finishing by hat-trick heroine Aishah Bolaji;   but it needed a gritty team performance with all Borough's players putting in a determined 90 minute shift and everyone responded wholeheartedly.   Their reward is a 2nd Round visit to LEWES of the South East Combination, the League which Borough would enter if promoted.

BOROUGH GET TOUGH CUP DRAWS

Borough now know their opponents in the early rounds of the three knock out competitions entered.

In the FA WOMENS CUP   they have a bye in the Preliminary Round and will be at home to WANDGAS who finished 3rd in the London & South East Regional league Premier Division last season on Sunday 27th September.

In the EASTERN REGION WOMENS LEAGUE CUP   history has repeated itself as they will visit WOODBRIDGE TOWN in the First Round on October 4th and that will be an early opportunity to avenge the defeat suffered at Notcutt Park in last seasons Quarter Final tie.     If they get past “The Woodpeckers” then another difficult away tie awaits as they will visit either CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY or HUNTINGDON TOWN and the University who won the Competition last season are obviously favourites to win their First Round match.

In the LONDON WOMENS CUP   Borough visit HAMPSTEAD of the Greater London League in the First Round on October 18th.   Victory would most result in a local derby with TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR of the South East Combination who will start as favourites in their First Round tie with HACKNEY, also of the Greater London League.    If Spurs are defeated then a National league side – either ARSENAL or WEST HAM UNITED will visit Coles Park for a  semi-final game.

We are delighted to have received the e-mail re-produced below from the Organiser of the event and certainly look forward to participation in next years Tournament.

"Thank you all for entering our first ever Spurs Ladies tournament.

We hope you all enjoyed the day, and topped up your suntans because the weather was a little too hot to play football in but the effort all your players put in during the event was superb and we would like to thank each and every one of them to make our first tournament a success.   The spirit the game was played in was how football should be played and at Spurs Ladies we try to install sportsmanship into our teams from an early age and  the way your players performed and handled themselves on and off the pitch was of a very high standard of professionalism, and we thank you for that.

We will be looking at next year for another five a side event and hopefully you would all like to come again and play in our tournament.

The winners were THLFC B and the runners up were Haringey Borough and the score was 2-0

The player of the tournament was Sarah Cleary of Haringey Borough
(congratulations)

Once again a big thank you from Spurs Ladies and hope to see you all next year
