THIS IS NOT THE CLUB'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE. Such is www.haringeyboroughfc.net and it can be acessed via the LINK tab to the left ========================================== LATEST NEWS AND IMPORTANT NOTICES 22nd March ANOTHER 2 GOAL LEAD NOT HELD ON TO SO 2 MORE POINTS DROPPED BUT OVERALL IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE After 17 minutes Borough had a two goal lead against their fellow relegation rivals Newmarket Town thanks to the muscular presence of Jorge Djassi Sambu up front who set up Derek Asamoah for the first and then raced forward on to a long clearance to send a delicate, well weighted lob over the onrushing ‘keeper. Given that we have made a speciality of not holding on to two goal leads this season no-one thought that was that and nor was it. We rarely looked like adding to our total with a fierce drive from way out on the left by Michael O’Donoghue which cleared the far top corner by inches midway through the second half being the only near miss we created. “The Jockeys” lifted their game in the latter stages of the first half and a quick break when we were on the attack saw them pull one back after 35 minutes. We appeared to have the situation well under control in the second half but ten minutes from time they drove home an equaliser and after that there looked to be only one likely winner, and it was not us. A magnificent full length dive by our ‘keeper Ashlee Jones, whose faultless handling of crosses and corners inspired confidence throughout, to divert a low drive destined for the bottom right hand corner of our net round the post was vital. Worse was to follow in the final minute of normal time when Michael O’D was red carded for verbal abuse of an official (which carries a 2 match suspension) but somehow we held on through the considerable added time to secure a precious point. A bitter pill to swallow, in that victory would have lifted us out of the drop zone at the expense of our hosts, was slightly sweetened by the news that the other 3 potential drop candidates –Wroxham, Sporting Bengal United and Ipswich Wanderers all lost – but we cannot escape exclusively on the short-comings of others and must put together a run of 2 or 3 wins in our remaining six games.………….the UNDER 23’s had set the scene for a good weekend with a 1-1 draw at home to their 3rd place rivals CSM London…........... on Sunday the highlight of the WOMENS season brought Arsenal Academy to Coles Park (2pm) in the semi-final of the Capital Womens Senior Cup. Borough started brightly and deservedly took the lead after 5 minutes when Ronnell Humes was in the right place to finish off a flowing move down the right. If Arsenal thought this might be a "just need to turn up" game that banished such thoughts and they upped thir game immediately and by half time were 4-1 up. The Arsenal 'keeper was far from becoming just a spectator but was to be bested just once more a minute or so from half time but great was the disappointment when a swerving shot from the edge of the penalty area, well beyond her reach, was ruled out because of a foul in the build up. An early goal in the seond half completed the scoring but that was in no way due to Arsenal easing off and they continued to press for further goals right to the end. That they failed to get any was due to a combination of staunch defending and a string of fine saves by 'keeper Emma Roberts. The match was played before a crowd of 193 which is certainly the highest attendance ever for one of their home games and probably away games too. A performance of which the players and the Club can all be proud. ==================================================== 2nd July SEASON TICKETS granting entry to all our remaining 19 Isthmian League HOME matches are again on offer at a cost of £30.
