ANOTHER SETBACK FOR THE GREAT ESCAPE

Despite a flying start at Chatham Town thanks to a third minute goal from Matt Young disappointment was to be the final outcome as goals in the 19th and 57th minute sent us to a 1-2 defeat.   A further setback is that in an 82nd minute melee ‘keeper Dillon Barnes was dismissed along with a Chatham player and we had no substitute goalie so Mekhi McLeod took over for the remaining 8 minutes and prolonged added time.   Other results were not altogether in our favour either as Cheshunt picked up 3 vital points with a solitary goal win over Play-off chasing Carshalton Athletic and with a 12 point lead on us must be hot favouirites for that precious 18th spot. Both teams now have 7 games to play as do Margate who picked up a point with a draw at home to Enfield Town to move 2 points above us.   Both the teams below us , Kingstonian and Concord Rangers, lost and remain three points below us but Concord have 3 games in hand on us. We have no midweek fixture but on Tuesday Cheshunt and Margate are playing each other (26th March - Cheshunt missed the chance to consolidate their 18th position but are still 12 points ahead of us despite losing to a second half goal while their win moved Margate 5 points clear of us although we do have a game in hand on both of them) and Concord have the toughest game possible away to runaway leaders Hornchurch (26th March - surprisingly losing to the games only goal in the 97th minute and remain 3 points behind us and now with only 2 games in hand). The importance of our next home game on Good Friday (3pm) , when Hastings United on the fringe of the Play-off hopefuls visit us, cannot be exaggerated.............................

THE UNDER 23's dropped 2 points at Bakers 693 FC in a 2-2 draw and they will finish betwen 3rd and 6th in this their inaugural season in the League.  They have 2 more League games to play but it is next Saturday's Divisional Cup semi-final away to the team who have already clinched the League Championship, FC Baresi, which is now their main focus. Baresi play at Wodson Park, Ware (3pm) kick off…...

.............on Sunday 24th THE WOMEN played their penultimate home League fixture when Needham Market visited Coles Park.   Whenever these teams meet goals are always plentiful - in the 4 games played during this and last season 36 goals have been scored - 23 of them by  Borough in the course of winning all 4 games - and todays 6-0 win was by far the biggest victory margin and consolidated their hold on the runners-up spot.
