Game NotesBorough lost for the third consecutive Tuesday and yet again dreadful finishing was the reason. The first half belonged to Hanwell in terms of possession but they created no really clear cut chances in open play. Their best opportunities came from set pieces and two free headers from corners could well have been made to tell if better directed. Borough’s approach was mainly based on long balls for Chris Benjamin and Richard Worrell to chase or hold up but neither could get anything on target to trouble the the experienced home ‘keeper, Keiran Jimmy. Borough enjoyed their best spell of the game immediately after the interval although for all their pressure could not create any clear cut opportunities. Andreas Loizou went closest with a long dipping shot from out wide on the right which Jimmy did well to tip over. But in their first serious raid of the half Hanwell took the lead in the 52nd minute when Terry Smith was given time and space on the centre edge of the penalty box to control a fine pass on his chest and thigh before volleying home an unstoppable drive low inside Borough ‘keeper Austin Byfield’s left hand post. Borough enjoyed their fair share of possession in the remaining period and Worrell was denied an equaliser by a desperate defenders block at the foot of a post. Hanwell again threatened mainly from set pieces and wasted a fine chance from a free kick right on the middle of the penalty area line which was hit straight over the top. In the closing minutes Borough stepped up the pressure and had two golden opportunities to reverse the result. Perhaps they were unlucky when Dewayne Clarke met a corner from the right with a powerful header which crashed back off the crossbar but Roland Namquita then blasted the rebound high over the bar from inside the six yard box some five minutes from time. It was clearly not to be Borough’s day and their misery was complete when Stephen Obeng, completely unmarked at the far post, met a diagonal ball in from the right but failed to bring it under control and knock it home but instead directed it closer to the corner flag than the goal as it rebounded off his shin. Defeat left Borough in 13th place in the table with seven points from six games.
