| Game Notes | Hertford Town arrived in desperate need of points to ease their relegation fears and left with all three and now look fairly safe from the drop. Their determined display created few openings but after only two minutes they scored in their first attack when prolific striker Ryan Wade was unwisely left totally unmarked on the right as an attack developed down the left and when the ball reached him it was a formality for him to control it and smash it home unhindered off the underside of the bar from the edge of the six yard box. Central defender Nick Nicou was injured making an important interception and Junior Diantomba replaced him. Borough thought they deserved a penalty when Dean Fenton was upended on the bye-line and appeared to be just inside the box but a free kick on the line was awarded. It mattered not for Darrell Cox headed the equaliser from Christopher Morgan’s free kick in the 27th minute. The winner arrived in the 68th minute when the ball was lost in a midfield challenge with central defender Yves Tedje who was then allowed to move unchallenged through the heart of the Borough defence to unleash a low shot from the edge of the area which crept just inside the left hand post. Borough brought on two attacking substitutes returning from long term injuries, Lloyd Opara and Ramon de Anhaia, and dominated the remainder of the game during which the Borough goal was never really threatened again. But Hertford’s determined defending, aided by the poor quality of Borough’s crosses and final balls, preserved their lead and Hertford ‘keeper Jake Knight was never really seriously tested despite all the pressure.
