Game NotesAfter an even opening spell the visitors took the lead when a 17th minute corner from the right was allowed to fall at the feet of unchallenged central defender John Mulholland who easily knocked the ball home from just a couple of yards out. Borough were not at their best in the first half and were close to going two down when a rocket of a shot from some 40 yards or so crashed against the top of the bar and flew vertically upwards leaving ‘keeper Ryohei Tamai with an awkward situation as it fell and he did well to punch it over the bar with an opponent breathing down his neck. Borough came more into the game as the half wore on and in added time just a few seconds before the interval Dean Fenton smashed an accurate ten yard shot into the corner of the net at the end of a swift flowing move to equalise. Borough enjoyed the better of the second half and when an early corner caused a goalmouth scramble visiting ‘keeper Jack Sillitoe produced an exceptional save to repel Junior Diantomba’s fiercely blasted close range effort. Borough continued to look the more likely scorers without creating any clear cut openings and new signing Ibrahim Kanteh, replacing the injured Fenton, made some telling runs and passes. But once again Borough were undone by failure to deal with a corner, this time from the left which was powerfully headed downwards and into the corner, giving Tamai no chance, by Russell Clark in the 68th minute. Borough stepped up a gear and deserved their 85th minute equaliser when the ball reached Darrell Cox some ten yards out after a concerted spell of pressure in numbers had created the opening and he drove home a finish similar to that which had produced the first half equaliser. Deep into stoppage time Charles Douse was hassled into conceding a corner and in the light of what had gone before Borough supporters nerves were somewhat on edge but this time a Borough head was first to the ball and the danger was averted with the final whistle following a few moments later to leave an entertaining game all square and probably it would have been an injustice to the losers had their been a winner.
