Game NotesDean Fenton playing as a striker for the first time this season plundered five goals to send Borough through to the semi-final of the League’s major knock-out Tournament. Borough dominated right from the start and after only seven minutes Fenton controlled a through ball and shrugged off defensive challenges to finish cleanly from some ten yards. Borough remained on top but it was not until the 32nd minute that they doubled the lead after a frantic scramble following a corner had seen several efforts blocked before the ball reached Fenton a few yards out to be smashed into the roof of the net. Biggleswade never stopped trying to play good football on a superb pitch and five minutes later were rewarded when the ball was carelessly given away out wide on the half way line and quickly fired forward towards unmarked striker Emmanuel Jonjo, a player released by Borough only last week, who moved smoothly into the penalty area and gave Borough ‘keeper Ryohei Tamai no chance with his low shot just inside his right hand post. Buoyed by this success Biggleswade looked as if they would make it a tight contest but a minute from the interval Fenton completed his hat-trick having raced forward to be in the right position at the far post when a speedy break down the right ended with an inviting cross which he smashed home. At the start of the second half Richard Worrell drew a tremendous save from home ‘keeper Adam Lawrence but when Rickelle Christian halted the goalwards run of a home striker ten yards outside the area it was fortunate that other players were deemed to be in a position to intercept and the card was yellow. Borough continued to control proceedings and Fenton’s fourth goal arrived in the 74th minute when left back Demetri Stratis stormed forward and fed a perfect through ball for winger Christopher Morgan to run onto and his fine lofted cross was met by Fenton just outside the far post with a powerful downward header. Injury necessitated a defensive reorganisation which saw Fenton moved to left back but that did not inhibit him as he collected the ball on the half way line and raced right into the penalty area before hammering his shot inside the near post ten minutes from time. Morgan unleashed a dipping shot from a central position some twenty yards out which drew another superb tip-over from Lawrence. To complete the rout Worrell headed home forcefully as he met a free kick fired over from the right by Morgan two minutes from time. In the semi-final Borough will entertain the winner of the tie between Chesham United Reserves and Leverstock Green at Coles Park on 14th February
