Game Notes | Borough secured three vital points with an impressive attacking display which saw them take the lead after only four minutes when a defensive mistake presented Karl Lewis with the opportunity to drill home a low cross shot. Borough enjoyed the majority of first half possession but could not add to their tally until the 39th minute when Tolu Popoola lobbed the ball home and Lewis added a third goal from close range four minutes later. Aylesbury stepped up a gear after the interval and a close range flick scraped the crossbar but they did reduce the arrears with a straight down the middle long ball which was allowed to run right through to an unchallenged Louis Cordice who easily knocked it past Jamaine Edwards. It was fortunate that after some further Aylesbury pressure Lloyd Opara restored Borough’s three goal advantage with the best goal of the match in the 71st minute when he sent in a powerful low drive from some 30 yards which flew into the bottom left corner past the outstretched arm of Aylesbury ‘keeper Eddie Farmer. Borough again let their opponents back in with a chance after some indecisive defending gifted Aaron Usnami a close range chance he could hardly miss in the 77th minute. After that there were no further scares for Borough as they comfortably retained the lead and with only two games left to play, and both against teams below them in the table, one victory will ensure safety.
