| Game Notes | We began our season with a visit from Potters Bar Town of Rymans Division One North and the 1-1 result was a fair reflection of the run of a game where few real chances were created. Borough had slightly the better of the opening half with our best chance falling early on to Mario Georgiou but he dwelt on the ball a fraction too long when put through and the advancing keeper smothered his effort. For “The Scholars†Joe Bennett fired in a fierce shot from the edge of the area which swerved just wide. Borough kept the same line-up throughout the first half which was Thomas How (GK), Andreas Loizou, Nick Nicou, Edmund Arthur, Daniel Walker, Constantinos Georgiou, David Boal, Jamie Brandon, Mario Georgiou, Darrell Cox, Liam Farrell. After the break both sides introduced a number of subsitiutes and Potters Bar looked the more likely winners especiall after a superb curling long shot by Bennett from way out on the left nestled in the far top corner – it will probably be some time before Coles Park sees a more spectacular effort. For Borough, Isaac Capello-Rukundo took over in goal and appearances were also made by Bosun Adebaki, Marvin Walker, Aaron Eshref, Miguel Martins, Hayden Edwards, and Andreas Pilides. For the visitors Paul Klein was unlucky to see his long range effort crash back off the bar but Borough took on a new lease of life towards the end and equalised when Marvin Walkers deep right wing corner was headed back into the middle where Liam Farrell was waiting to blast it home hard and low through a crowded goalmouth from a central position just inside the area. Of Boroughs 18 man squad, six were new faces not registered last season. |
