Game Notes | Always disappointing to lose but the real purpose was to give Manager Allan Fenn the opportunity to see many potential new recruits in action. Of the 19 strong squad only 6 were registered last season so it was inevitable that they would take some time to gel and Molesey took an early lead when a crossfield ball wrong-footed the defence.
Possession was evenly shared but the home side looked the more positive with their solid defence allowing few clear cut opportunities although Ry Hardy went close as his lob from the edge of the area cleared both the on-rushing 'keeper and the bar. Borough's defence backed off when Molesey made a fast break down the middle and the scorer sent in a fierce swerving drive from some five yards outside the penalty area when he was allowed time to steady himself. After the interval which saw many changes to Borough's line up Borough looked more threatening and the powerful running of Joe Seabrook enabled him to burst into the area from the left and blast an unstoppable cross-drive into the far top corner. He came very close to equalising too
when he raced clear onto a long ball down the middle but just pushed it slightly too far ahead allowing the 'keeper to get down well and smother it. Both sides earned a considerable tally of corners but none of them resulted in any serious threat on goal. Ten minutes from time Molesey wrapped up the game with a clever through ball in from the left which left the scorer with an easy chance to run onto and slot home.
