Game NotesJust as it was looking likely that a spirited Borough recovery would harvest a hard-earned point a moments lack of focus in the closing stages led to a scrappy winning goal for the hosts. After some even opening exchanges Dunstable dominated the first half but wasted some fine scoring opportunities. Their closest attempt was a hard low cross shot which struck the base of the post and stayed out. But Dunstable took the lead only three minutes into the second half when Dale Turney outpaced the defence in a race for a long ball and finished with a clinical shot just inside the far post as he cut into the area from the right. Borough were on the back foot for a while but stepped up a gear midway through the half and deservedly drew level when a fine run down the left by Niko Salapatas ended with a low cross which Liam Farrell stretched for and successfully bundled in low at the far post. And Borough so nearly took the lead when Marvin Walker battled to the goal line to send over a perfect cross for the onrushing Rakim Richards but although he directed his header downwards from just a few yards out it bounced up on the very hard ground and scraped the bar as it flew over. Borough never really threatened the home goal again and survived a prolonged onslaught of shots following a corner which were repeatedly blocked only to fall for another Town player to let fly again before eventually being scrambled clear. Borough seemed to have weathered the storm and a draw seemed the most likely outcome but a dispute over an alleged foul not given caused a lack of concentration and the eventual booking of Theo Charalambos for dissent and when the game was restarted a needless foul in a dangerous position in the 83rd minute immediately presented Town with a free kick some five yards outside the area on the left and with the wind inviting a curled shot Jon Barnet duly delivered one which was allowed to bounce and ended up in the roof of the net probably without any player having touched it. Borough never looked like pulling the game round and in the remaining time Dunstable missed two gilt-edged opportunities to put the result beyond doubt.
