| Game Notes | Borough’s unbeaten championship chasing visitors wasted their opportunities to make the game safe in the first half as a series of free headers from set pieces were directed wide of the target. The only goal of the half arrived in the 22nd minute when Borough were caught out by a short corner routine which left Ryan Redford unmarked at the far post to turn the ball home. Borough created some promising moves with the speed of Demetri Stratis and Jamie Brandon causing problems but the only real save forced upon Tring ‘keeper Tom Vincent was to hold a rocket of a shot fired in by Richard Worrell from the right hand touch line. Ten minutes into the second half a clumsy challenge when the striker was well away from goal on the edge of the penalty area enabled Tony Fields to blast home Tring’s second from the spot. Yet another free header, probably the easiest of them all, was directed into the side netting at the far post from a Tring corner and might have proved costly as Tring relaxed a little too early and for the last twenty minutes Borough seized the initiative. Liam Farrell was denied by a fine save from Vincent as he raced in from the left and Brandon went close with a cross shot. Borough were back in the game in the 82nd minute when it was their turn to be the beneficiaries of a mistimed challenge on David Boal as he tried to thread his way in along the goal line from the right. Worrell drove the penalty home firmly. Borough’s best chance of an equaliser came in the last minute when Borough were awarded a free kick a few yards outside the penalty area in a central position and Marvin Walkers powerful low shot penetrated the wall but was well smothered at the foot of a post by Vincent.
