Game NotesBorough succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home to high flying Aylesbury United after a testing game on a heavy pitch. Aylesbury dominated large swathes of the game and were good value for their win, although Borough had chances to snatch a draw.

Haringey started brightly and had some promising moves down the right, but both sides struggled to carve out early chances and it took until the 18th minute for the first real chance. Dean Fenton got down the right and put in a good cross for Roland Namquita who then laid the ball back for Darrell Cox in a promising position, but the ball was slightly behind him and he slipped on the soggy pitch.

Aylesbury then reacted immediately and got the ball down the right side, working the ball to Louis Austin in the area who managed the slip the ball past Erbil Bozkurt in the Borough goal, but his shot wasn't strong enough and Haringey managed to clear it off the line.

A few minutes later Christopher Benjamin had a chance, getting through the defence and into the area but his shot dropped wide of the left hand post.

Aylesbury then had the ball down the other side of the pitch and after a high cross dropped into the box it rolled down the side of Cedric Lakole, before then being directed at goal and headed off the line by Borough, but the referee pulled play back and awarded a penalty for handball from Lakole. Stacey Field stepped up confidently and cooly placed the penalty into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

Once ahead Aylesbury continued to apply pressure, pressing high up the pitch and threatening to take control of the game, but occasionally Haringey looked to offer a challenge on the break. On the 42nd minute Borough managed to draw level when Benjamin put a good ball into the box which was then headed back by Fenton to Cox who then struck a hard and low shot into the bottom left hand corner.

Aylesbury had a good chance to restore their lead a minute before halftime when Austin got down the right and put in an inviting cross to the far post, but Field's downwards header bounced wide of the goal.

After the break it only took Aylesbury just four minutes to get back ahead. After a scramble in the unsteady ground in front of the area the ball eventually came to Field who was able to put the ball through for Austin. Bozkurt closed quickly but Austin was able to clip the ball past him and into the Borough net.

Aylesbury begun to get a tighter grip on the game and almost doubled their lead 7 minutes later. Zak Reynolds made a meandering run forward to the edge of the box and took a long shot which hit the crossbar and bounced down onto the goal line before bouncing out again. The follow up header then also hit the crossbar, but it bounced over harmlessly for a goalkick.

Haringey had a few rare ventures forward in the remainder of the half, with Fenton testing Jack Sillitoe in the Aylesbury goal and substitute Olegs Semjonovs making some runs forward, but they never looked like snatching a draw.

Haringey Borough squad: Erbil Bozkurt, Andras Molnar, Cedric Lakole, Dewayne Clarke, Roland Namquita, Rakim Richards, Dean Fenton, Nick Nicou, Christopher Benjamin, Darrell Cox, Lawrence Constanti (Richard Worrell, Olegs Semjonovs, Sabri Bokciu)
