LEAGUE KNOCK OUT CUP DRAWS ANNOUNCED

Borough enjoyed favourable draws in both the League Trophy and the Premier Division Cup

In the TROPHY they could go to the quarter final without leaving Coles Park.  Their First Round opponents will be AMPTHILL TOWN of Division One.  Success would bring a visit from either DUNSTABLE TOWN (Premier Division) or PITSTONE and IVINGHOE (Division 2) and if they reach the Third Round their visitors would be THE 61FC (Division 2) or HAREFIELD UNITED (Premier Division) or PADBURY UNITED (Division 2).  Any Quarter Final or Semi Final tie would be away from home.

In the PREMIER DIVISION CUP they will be visited by ST. MARGARETSBURY in the First Round.   Success would see any further games away from home - at either BIGGLESWADE UNITED or BROXBOURNE BOROUGH in the second round  and at LANGFORD or KENTISH TOWN in the Quarter Final.  A Semi final tie would be away from home.

               LATE RUN  BRINGS SAFETY

A draw followed by 3 wins from the last four matches of the season ensured that Borough will continue to ply their trade at Step 5 in the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League as their last game of the season - a 1-0 home win against Cockfosters means that they have finished above them uin 118th position  and also above Holmer Green and Kentish Town who are still contesting the wooden spoon - Town must avoid defeat against Kingsbury London Tigers in their final game if they are to avoid it.

TOM LOIZOU  has today (24th March 2009) been installed as the Club’s new FIRST TEAM MANAGER following last weeks parting of the ways with Allan Fenn whose achievement in guiding the Club back to Premier Division status at the first attempt following relegation at the end of season 2006/07 while also winning the First Division knock-out Cup will ensure his time at the Club is remembered as a successful tenure.

Tom is a UEFA “A” Licence holder and brings to the Club a a wealth of experience gained over a long period in management mostly at a higher level.     Following a spell as Youth and Reserve Team Manager at Leyton Orient he was Caretaker Manager of that League Club’s First Team for a while and Director of their Centre of Excellence  before moving on to Crown & Manor to run their International Soccer Academy.   Managerial spells at Cheshunt, Enfield, Leyton and finally a second spell at Cheshunt when they were a Level 3 Club followed.

Tom brings with him trusted lieutenants in Charlie Douse and Paul McGiven who will be Assistant Managers with Charlie also taking the role of First Team Scout and Paul that of First Team Coach.

The new Management will take charge of the team for the first time at this coming Thursday’s visit to Hertford Town and their first Home game will be two days later when Biggleswade United visit Coles Park.
